Oxford University Access Agreement

Researchers at the University of Oxford can publish open access free of charge in specialist journals covered by the Read and Publish agreements. The plan must be approved by the Student Office in accordance with the Higher Education and Research Act 2017. From 2020, access and participation plans will be reviewed every three to five years and universities will be required to provide the regulator with information on progress towards the goals. Oxford University`s Access and Participation Plan provides details on current access objectives, other measures of access, success and progression, as well as financial and other support for students. In August 2019, Oxford University was informed that its access and participation plan for 2020-21 had been approved by the Office for Students for a period of five years. Not necessarily, it depends on the respective publisher agreement and sometimes on the title of the magazine. By accepting your offer, you confirm your consent to these documents. The university has access targets that are part of the access and participation plan between Oxford University and the Office for Students. Our access and participation plan is available for download.

We know that some of the most talented students in UK schools consider Oxford inaccessible, and many people have an imprecise look at who is studying here, what it costs and what it is. Outdated stereotypes can deter candidates from choosing a university that would please them and offer them fantastic opportunities for the future. If the big candidates don`t show up, we miss them, and we think they`re also absent. They are called transformation agreements because they aim to become a comprehensive open access model that meets the requirements of donors such as Plan S and the new Wellcome Trust OA Directive of 2021. Previous agreements, approved by the Fair Access Office (OFFA), are archived on the Student Office (OfS) website. Please note that the process is different if you are a student in an open access course in continuing education, in which case you will contract with the university if you pay your fees. More details, including justified seizures, can be found on our publisher`s payment page.
